Amateur Powerlifting Career:
Lisa was ranked 5th in the 148lb weight class on “Powerlifting USA” magazine’s list of “Top 20 Women Powerlifters in the United States for the year 2000” (see March 2001 issue)

I competed in bench press competitions from 1991 to 2001. I won every Regional and State competition I entered, and set records in most. I competed in my first “full meet” in 2000 and not only won the 148 lb division, I but set World Records in all three lifts.

Note: A “full meet” includes all the three major lifts- squat, bench press, and deadlift. You are given 3 attempts at each lift, and each lift is strictly judged for correct execution (read= no cheating!). The rules include having the squats low enough to break parallel, having the bar pause at the chest during the bench press, and having the deadlift fully locked out.


	Training for this type of event is both exciting and terrifying! It’s SUCH a thrill to move big weight. It takes total concentration and focus to perfectly execute that “big lift”. I love going for that elusive “PR” (personal record).
